Getting Banshee

The latest version of Banshee is 0.99.1, released on May 6, 2008. View this Release. Banshee is free/open source software, released under the MIT/X11 license.

Visit the Getting Started page for instructions on how to get Banshee up and running on your system. Binary packages are available for most popular distributions, as well as source build instructions.

The Plugins page also has details about how to extend Banshee's functionality through plugins.

Roadmap

There will be one more release, 0.13.3, from the stable branch. After that, work will continue full force to get a release out from "trunk". Banshee "trunk" is the version of Banshee that is under very heavy development and is actually a nearly complete rewrite of Banshee. The rewrite effort started in October, 2007, and made its first pre-release in March, 2008. Please see the "trunk" page for more information. Follow the progress and see the high-level design on the Roadmap.
