Getting Started

Banshee has been packaged for a variety of Linux distributions. Below are instructions on how to enjoy Banshee in several of them. It some instances, your distribution may have an older version of banshee which does not include the latest features. Once you have it installed, check out the Banshee Guide to help you become familiar with the fun and then extend banshee using plugins.

Installing Banshee

Banshee is installed by default or is available through package repositories for the most popular Linux distributions.

Please see the Building Banshee from Source page if you are interested in compiling Banshee instead of using distribution-provided packages.

Using Banshee

When you have finished the install, wander over to the Banshee Guide for a scenic & guided tour of the Banshee country side. We'll start by showing you how to listen to your tunes and gradually dig into deeper topics like plugin management and methods of music organization.

Extending Banshee

Once you have enjoyed Banshee's base features, Check out the Plugin Repository for ways Banshee can be extend to support other features. Share you music across the network, listen to podcasts, and more.
