Q: Why do I get the error don't know how to handle application/x-id3?
and/or
Q: My MP3 files will not play?

A: Check out our Debugging page.
Q: How do I get album covers to show?
A: Name your album covers cover.jpg and put them in the directory with the album's music files. Banshee will pickup on this if it doesn't get the album from other sources and will synchronize them with your iPod if you add tracks.

A: See the Getting_Started page.
Q: How do I get Banshee to do X?

Q: Can I compile without feature X to avoid the requirements?
A: Yes. See the ./configure --help for information on this. As an example: ./configure --disable-daap.
Q: I can't get banshee to compile from source. autogen.sh complains about missing macro files:
Please add the files codeset.m4 gettext.m4 glibc21.m4 iconv.m4 isc-posix.m4 lcmessage.m4 progtest.m4
A: Your distribution typically does not come with development packages installed. Check with your distribution as to how to get these packages installed. For our Ubuntu friends, run sudo apt-get build-dep banshee. If you encounter similar errors, be sure that you have automake 1.9 installed.
Q: Why doesn't the Filesystem Monitor plugin work properly?
A: You shouldn't be using it; it is known to be broken. If your distribution is still shipping it, please notify your package maintainers that the plugin should not be shipped.
Q: I'm using FC5, and Banshee SVN Segfaults on startup. Whats wrong?
A: A segfault on startup can mean a lot of things, but on FC5 it is common that you are using an out-of-date version of D-Bus. Doing a full gdb backtrace that yields that the fault is in the call DBus.Bus:GetBus (DBus.Bus/BusType). Many IRC reporters have found that upgrading to D-Bus 0.62 or later fixes the issue. This may apply to other distributions!
Q: How many rods are in a furlong?
A: 40.
