Getting Involved
There are many ways to get involved with Banshee.
- Develop Plugins
- Translation (http://developer.gnome.org/projects/gtp/)
- Bug reporting, triaging, and fixing (http://bugzilla.gnome.org/browse.cgi?product=banshee)
- Bugs to fix for 0.11.x (http://bugzilla.gnome.org/buglist.cgi?product=banshee&bug_status=NEW&bug_status=REOPENED&bug_status=ASSIGNED&bug_status=UNCONFIRMED&target_milestone=0.11.x)
- Bugs with patches, but not yet closed (http://bugzilla.gnome.org/buglist.cgi?query_format=advanced&short_desc_type=allwordssubstr&short_desc=&classification=Other&product=banshee&long_desc_type=substring&long_desc=&status_whiteboard_type=allwordssubstr&status_whiteboard=&keywords_type=allwords&keywords=&bug_status=UNCONFIRMED&bug_status=NEW&bug_status=ASSIGNED&bug_status=REOPENED&bug_status=NEEDINFO&emailassigned_to1=1&emailtype1=substring&email1=&emailassigned_to2=1&emailreporter2=1&emailqa_contact2=1&emailcc2=1&emailtype2=substring&email2=&bugidtype=include&bug_id=&chfieldfrom=&chfieldto=Now&chfieldvalue=&cmdtype=doit&order=Reuse+same+sort+as+last+time&field0-0-0=attachments.ispatch&type0-0-0=equals&value0-0-0=1&field1-0-0=noop&type1-0-0=noop&value1-0-0=)
- Bugs scheduled for 0.13.x (http://bugzilla.gnome.org/buglist.cgi?product=banshee&bug_status=NEW&bug_status=REOPENED&bug_status=ASSIGNED&bug_status=UNCONFIRMED&target_milestone=0.13.x)
- All current Banshee Bugs (http://bugzilla.gnome.org/buglist.cgi?product=banshee&bug_status=NEW&bug_status=REOPENED&bug_status=ASSIGNED&bug_status=UNCONFIRMED)
- Bugs with keyword gnome-love: good for a newbie (http://bugzilla.gnome.org/buglist.cgi?query=keyword%3Agnome-love+product%3Abanshee+)
- Request New Features
- Download the source from GNOME SVN, submit patches
Novell has done some usability tests on Banshee and published them at the BetterDesktop project (http://www.betterdesktop.org/welcome/index.php?q=data).
Patches
The produce a patch, use svn diff > descriptive_name_for.patch
To get feedback on a patch, send it to the banshee-list mailing list. If it's not terribly long, include it inline so it can be commented on easily. And always attach the patch.
If you think the patch is ready, and that it meets the HACKING (http://svn.gnome.org/viewvc/banshee/trunk/banshee/HACKING?view=markup) guidelines, attach it to the relevant bug in bugzilla (creating a new one if necessary).
